CSL-2 Class Description
Students taking the CSL-2 class will be expected to have completed the CSL-1 or equivalent program. Students entering this program should have an intermediate understanding of Chinese. The class will focus on strengthening the student's knowledge of the Chinese language. The vocabulary and characters taught in this class are to enable the students to converse using everyday language. Recognition of even more characters will be possible, as well as more writing. This class will also focus more on sentence structure and stroke order than the prerequisite classes. Each semester will have an event, such as poetry reading contest, sight word contest, and other cultural activities, in which each child can take part in.
Our teaching team consists of regular weekday school educators. They have the professional training to effectively encourage students and keep the interest level high. TAs will be available during class time to help with the daily class activities.
Homework as well as other class materials will be distributed through handouts or posted to the website. It is highly encouraged that at least one parent attend each class with their child. This will help the child understand the material at home. Homework is not expected to be finished in one sitting, but spread out over the course of the week. Please consult the teacher for any questions regarding homework.
Assessments will be held at regular intervals throughout the semester to evaluate each child. Up to the teacher's discretion, children may be required to take assessments without parents in the classroom.
Report cards will be available at the end of each school semester, highlighting homework and assement abilities of each child. Please consult the teacher for any questions regarding grades and report cards.
